The Carousel Charity Horse Show name was "coined" by Mrs. Shirley Chartrand with the first show being held in April of 1971 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds.
The show was designed to showcase multiple breeds of horses. Some of the breeds that have traditionally been a part of the Carousel Charity Horse Show are American Saddlebreds, Arabians, Half - Arabians, Friesians, Hackney Ponies, Morgans, Peruvian Pasos, and Road Horses. Today this show is the largest multi-breed show in the entire Southwest.
